India: Congress leaders meet president; accuse Modi government of sinister campaign!

As the aggressive Hindutva campaign is in its full swing, trying to create communal discord in a society known for communalization of politics, India’s former ruling party Congress president Sonia Gandhi MP and her son Rahul Gandhi MP on November 11 led the party's leaders and MPs in a march from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the office of Indian president functions, in protest against "growing intolerance" in the country, accusing the Modi government of unleashing a sinister campaign to create social and communal tension, along religion and castes.

The Asian Banker pronounced, Bank of Ceylon as the “Strongest Bank” in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s No.1 Bank, the Bank of Ceylon was named as the only “Strongest Bank” in Sri Lanka for the year 2015 by the Asian Banker, in an independent research carried by the region’s most authoritative provider of strategic business intelligence to the financial services community. The announcement was made at a ceremony held in conjunction with SWIFT’s SIBOS convention at Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

Indonesia signs the historic Bali Declaration targeting the looming TB diabetes co-epidemic

After convening a two-day summit this week in Bali, the Indonesian Ministry of Health, together with the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) and the World Diabetes Foundation, today signed the Bali Declaration, uniting more than 100 global health officials and experts behind a global campaign to fight the twin scourge of TB and diabetes. Bi-directional screening is a key component of the Bali Declaration, which aims to bring the co-epidemic to the attention of governments across the globe.

Indian Businessmen Donate Water Purification Plant and School Books To Rural Schools

A group of Indian businessmen arrived in Sri Lanka recently and ceremonially handed over a water purification plant donated by them to the Sri Rahula Maha Vidyalaya, Maradankadawala. The occasion was also attended by Lions District 306B2 Governor Lion S.K. Ravindran and First Lady Lion Mangaleshwari. The group also donated school books and stationery items to students at the Nagalawewa Primary School, Kimbissa.
