In the early 90’s, I first experienced a distant taste of terrorism, when the LTTE detonated a bomb targeting the then Brigadier Vijaya Wimalaratne, who had been a major strategist in taking on the outfit, while in a military convoy moving close to the Royal College in Colombo. Not only did I feel the deadly impact despite being a few streets away, but also managed to instantly imagine in the ascending order of the carnage, what the fate could have been for those who were unfortunate enough to be in the immediate vicinity of the crime.
