Vocational Training Centre opens in Kaithady with the support of the German Government

The Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka (VTA) announced the inauguration of its vocational training centre in Kaithady, Jaffna, on 4th March 2016. The Vocational Training in the North and East of Sri Lanka (VTN) Project is a bilateral cooperation between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Federal Republic of Germany.

Jaffna District was as usual worst affected due to the All Island power outage

Yesterday, it was only after 11 PM midnight, the power lines were restored in the Jaffna district. The power went out by 2.30 PM afternoon in Jaffna, as well as in the other parts of the Island, but the power was restored by 6 PM in the South, but not so in the Jaffna district.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa and three others were granted bail by Judge A. A. Heiyanthuduwa, Colombo High Court today. The Colombo High Court is currently considering the granting of bail for yet another suspect in the case, Nishantha Ranathunga.
