No More Advantavge English

Even ‘anti-national’ Indians concede that by virtue of it being the source of most Indian languages, Sanskrit should and does command great respect in the country. The government does not have to go so far in support of Sanskrit as to make it compulsory in schools, colleges—and IITs, as the human resource minister wants.

India has the honour to participate in the Buddha Rashmi Vesak celebrations at the kind invitation of the Government of Sri Lanka. India would, inter alia, be displaying a Vesak lantern modelled on the stupa at the Mahabodhi Temple in Gaya, Bihar, India.

Sri Lankans with generosity -Case Study for Entire world!

I received a call on 18th Wednesday early in the morning from Oshadee, a good friend of mine, a CEO of an Event Management Company. He told me that the water level of Kelani River has increased and many people had been badly affected due to this. On that day his company stopped their daily work and started working 24/7 (up to now) to help the flood victims. This is a kind gesture of a company who came forward to help those in distress. This is also one such social activity by one company and there are many such activities by Sri Lankans during the past few days. This is why Sri Lanka has been ranked second in the world for devoting their time to help others!

The Foreign Minister Must Resign!

As a student of Sri Lankan politics and a commentator on South Asian affairs, I was appalled to read the open letter written by the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, Samaraweera, to the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. In a mature democracy, in the very least, he would have been forced to resign.
