The European Commission rejects renewal or extension of the controversial agreement with tobacco multinational Philip Morris International (PMI) on tackling illicit trade which expired on 9th July 2016.

Having launched Islamic program in all walks of life in order to activate Islamic faith level in the society, Malaysia has achieved another milestone in judiciary as two women have been appointed as judges of Malaysia’s Islamic Shariah High Court for the first time in the history of the judiciary of the Muslim-majority country.

Noor Huda Roslan, 40, and Nenney Shuhaidah Shamsuddin, 41, received their official letters of appointment from Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah during a ceremony at the Istana Bukit Kayangan.

MDR-TB treatment regimen: Short indeed is beautiful

WHO recently announced new recommendations to speed up diagnosis and improve treatment outcomes for multi drug resistant TB (MDR-TB) through the use of a novel rapid diagnostic test called MTBDRsl, and a shorter, cheaper 9-12 month treatment regimen. The new treatment regimen can be completed in 9-12 months— less than half the time required by the current 24-month treatment standard used worldwide.
