SLFP anniversary: Give pride & place to H. Sri Nissanka

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is scheduled to celebrate its 65th anniversary in Kurunegala on September 4. The person who initiated and proposed the formation of a national political party, ‘independent’ of the right-wing conservative United National Party (UNP) and the Marxist political formations, under the leadership of S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, in fact, represented this city Kurunegala in the first parliament (1947-1952) of independent Ceylon as an independent-socialist: Herbert Sri Nissanka, Kings Counsel.
