Asian Trib Fomenting Religious Intolerance.

Since it is clear that the previous strife in Ireland and Chechnya, 9/11 in New York, and the current strife in the Middle East and the bombings in Israel are all motivated by religious intolerance that someone fanned into eventual hatred, I am shocked that the Asian Tribune so frequently seeks to "stir the pot" and set different religions against each other.

Do you hope to gain as much publicity -- for the same reason -- as Newsweek recently achieved?

Every time you publish an article full of undocumented mouthings OR some angry person's irresponsible and hate-breeding charges -- as you did when you unsuccessfully tried to discredit Scientology Volunteer Ministers who left home and jobs to come aid your people -- you foment religious intolerance. Intolerance becomes hatred in the minds of the unstable, and that breeds violence against those you insult for their religion.

We are a peaceful religion. It is part of our ethical structure. But there is no way for you to predict what violence you are inciting against our religion -- and against unselfish people who came to help your country.

As journalists, you have a duty to publish truth, to document it, to attribute it, to verify it. You have been lax.

But, by publishing paragraphs from the letter by Linda Simmons Hight, you have taken an imprtant first step. Please shine your flashlight farther up that path and walk it with greater and growing conviction.

Wouildn't you rather be known as a news medium that aids the peace process, rather than looking for reasons to foment more interreligious strife and hatred?
