[b]Australia is helping Gnanakone and his family[/b]

[b]Melbourne, 18 October, (Asiantribune.com): [/b]Australian Foreign Office is quoted in the media as saying that its Consular officials in Colombo are "helping" Charles Gnanakone who is detained "in relation to his alleged links to the LTTE and the assassination of the former foreign minister, Lakshman Kadirgamar.

The foreign office is also assisting their family in Australia.

This is reported in today's TV and print media. The Australian, the leading national newspaper, reported that Charles Gnanakone's son who lives in Mt. Eliza, southeast of Melbourne, has refused to comment on this issue. "We don't have any comment at this time," he told The Australian.
