Sydney, 31 August, (Asiantribune.com): Virginia Judge, MP for Strathfield, New South Wales, Australia, will be arriving in Colombo on September 2, 2005 carrying a load of money to be handed over to LTTE organizations in Mullativu. Strathfield has a strong concentration of Tamil migrants from Sri Lanka. She told the “Asian Tribune” that she has been involved with this community for eleven years – from the time she was in local government.

When asked how much money she was taking with her and whether she will be handing it over to Tamils Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO) she quickly went into reverse gear and asked: “Why are you asking these questions? No one has asked these questions before!”

“Asian Tribune” explained that it is a profession duty of journalists to ask questions. Though she did not specify the amount of money she was taking it is believed that she is carrying nearly $100,000.00. Australian law does not permit individuals to carry anything more $10,000.00 without approval from the relevant authorities.

When asked whether she was traveling with the approval of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade she said that she was traveling as a private individual. She added that the money was collected by the Asia Pacific Friendship Group of NSW Parliament. A part of it was sent to Aceh and she will be carrying the other part to Sri Lanka, she said.
