Colombo, 15 January, (Asiantribune.com): The grenade lobbed into the garage of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in Batticoloa on Friday night has confirmed the doubts expressed by the SLMM about the existence of the Ceasefire Agreement, analysts told the Asian Tribune.

The garage was bombed within hours of the SLMM holding the LTTE responsible for the escalation of violence since December 4, 2004 when the LTTE attacked 12 January killing 09 Sri Lanka Navy sailors.

Analysts agree that this is a stinging slap in the face of America and EU which have been threatening stern action against the LTTE if it escalates the violence. In particular the bombing of the Norwegian-led peace mission in the eastern province is considered as the last straw that broke the back of the Norwegian-led Ceasefire Agreement.
