[b]British warning against unnecessary travel to North and East of Sri Lanka.[/b]

[b]London, 29 March, (Asiantribune.com):[/b] The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued warning against 'all but essential travel to the North and East of Sri Lanka,' as ongoing political violence and civil unrest, especially in the north and east, continues to escalate.

Furthermore, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office in its warning released yesterday stated that it has reviewed and reissued with amendment to the Summary and Political Situation section. The overall level of the advice has not changed, it adds.

The full text of the warning to travelers to Sri Lanka's North and East is given below:

• We advise against all but essential travel to the north or east of Sri Lanka.

• Ongoing political violence and civil unrest, especially in the north and east, continues to escalate. Since December 2005, the security situation has deteriorated and there have been many fatal attacks.
