[b]Case against Thilanga Sumathipala: [i]Sunday Leader [/i]Editor cross examined[/b]

[b]Colombo, 29 November, (Asiantribune.com):[/b] Thilanga Sumathipala was not identified as a debased person in the articles published in the Sunday Leader newspaper and I do not have animosity against him, said Lasantha Wickramatunga, Editor Sunday Leader, while responding to a question by the defense lawyer when the case against the former President of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, Thilanga Sumathipala, who was charged under the Immigration & Emigration Act, was taken up for trial.

The case is heard before the Colombo Additional Magistrate, Ajith Anawaratne.

The CID has prosecuted the accused on a charge that the accused has helped to obtain a passport on a false name Buddhika Priyasantha Godage to an underworld leader, Dhammika Amarasinghe to travel and to watch the 1999 World Cup Cricket matches in England.
