Indonesian court orders closure of Buddha Bar in Jakarta

The Jakarta branch of Paris-based Buddha Bar has been ordered to be closed immediately by an Indonesian court on Wednesday, citing the controversial bar and restaurant had inappropriately used the religion’s name and icons for entertainment purposes. It also convicted the licence holder of blasphemy.

Indonesian volcano erupts first time in 400 years

Indonesia’s Sinabung Volcano in the island of Sumatra erupted this morning, shooting black smokes and spewing ash and volcanic materials and prompting the evacuation of surrounding areas. The 2,460-metre (8,100 feet) Mount Sinabung in northern Sumatra has not erupted for more than 400 years.
