President Mahinda Rajapakse’s brother and his Presidential election Campaign Manager, Basil Rajapakse, who did the hard work behind the scene to win the first term, vowed to win the second term too.

In an interview with the “Asian Tribune,” Basil Rajapakse said the government is now working towards implementing the President’s manifesto, “Mahinda Chinthana”, fully.

The first step will be to scrap the budget presented by the Finance Minister of President Kumaratunga and present a new budget based on his manifesto to Parliament on December 8.

Speaking on the need to win the much needed minority votes to the party, Basil Rajapakse said the President would immediately implement “Mahinda Chinthana” policies including a host of benefits for the minorities.

‘The President managed to garner a fraction of minority votes. But that is not enough,’ Basil Rajapakse said.
