[b]Chandrika back in the country – several dramatic turn of events expected[/b]

[b]Colombo, 09 October, (Asiantribune.com):[/b] Chandrika Kumaratunga, Sri Lanka President who is in her twilight of her executive presidency was afforded with a pompous welcome – a guard of honor at the airport, when she returned back to the country yesterday evening by a Sri Lanka aircraft, after her successful visit to France to participate in the 33rd General Assembly of the UNESCO.

During her visit to France, she met the French President and several French officials. Discussions were held on Sri Lanka’s peace process, post tsunami construction work and many other important matters.

President Kumaratunga paid her tribute to the French Government for the contribution made by France in imposing travel sanctions on the Sri Lanka's Tamil rebel outfit – Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Meanwhile according to a report, yesterday evening, after her arrival, she held talks with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse.
