Chandrika returns not with a green light but with ..........

From our Colombo Correspondents

Colombo, 04 June, (Asiantribune.com): President Chandrika Kumaratunga’s main objective in going to Delhi was to get the approval of the Indian Government for the Post Tsunami Operational Management Structure (P-TOMS) for coordinating relief and reconstruction in areas affected by the Tsunami.

Did she win or is she coming back with a question mark hanging over her P-TOMS?

Analysts in Colombo, reading between the lines of the joint official communiqué argue that she has not got the green light she was expecting. She has only got the amber light, warning her to be wary of every step. Analysts point to the following two lines in the official joint communiqué: “…(S)he apprised the (Indian) Prime Minister of her efforts to establish a Post Tsunami Operational Management Structure (P-TOMS) for coordinating relief and reconstruction in areas affected by the Tsunami. The Prime Minister expressed understanding of and support for these ongoing efforts”, the statement issued by Indian Foreign Office said.
