Chandrika's President Counsel List destined to the trash bin

Colombo, 27 November, ( It was reported that just before former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumartunga went on retirement, she appointed several lawyers as President’s Counsels, but as they would not get an opportunity to make their oaths, now it is feared that they would lose their appellations.

The former President instead of sending the list to the Chief Justice, has sent it to the Registrar of the Supreme Court, which apparently has angered the Chief Justice and when these lawyers have met the Chief Justice to get a date to take their oaths, the Chief Justice has told them to get a date from the Registrar and to make their oaths before the Registrar.
,br> It was also reported that when some of those lawyers who were supporters of the People’s Alliance approached the new President, it was learnt the President have told to throw the List to the trash bin.

When the Ravaya contacted the Supreme Court Registrar and inquired about the matter, he confirmed of the receipt of such a List from the Madam President and the list was submitted to the Chief Justice.
