[b]Co-chairs' delegation to meet LTTE in Kilinochchi today[/b]
[b]Colombo, 24 December, (Asiantribune.com): [/b]A delegation of co-chairs, consisting of top diplomats based in Colombo is expected to visit Kilinochchi today to meet S.P.Tamilselvan, Head of the Political division of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
The decision to visit Kilinochchi was taken yesterday when Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake and Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera met Ambassadors of the Co-chairs countries in the aftermath of the incident in Talaimannar in which 15 sailors were killed.
At the yesterday’s meeting, the Government side insisted the co-chair countries diplomats to take specific measures to ensure that the LTTE desists from further escalating violence in the North and East and return to the negotiating table.
According to reports the delegation that is leaving for Kilinochchi today is expected to comprise of Ambassador Julian Wilson, the Head of the EU Delegation to Sri Lanka, Stephen Evans, High Commissioner of United Kingdom, Akio Suda Ambassador of Japan, and Oddvar Lægreid Deputy Ambassador to Norway.
