Colombo, 27 January, (Asiantribune.com): Colonel Jeyam, one of Colonel Karuna’s loyalists, has been included in the delegation of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, for the forthcoming peace talks to be held in Geneva, most probably after the second week of February.

He is popularly known as Periya (big) Jeyam in the midst of the LTTE cadres, is about 42 years old and hails from Vavuniya.

Periya Jeyam in the early days was the close confidante of Gopalasamy Mahendrarajah alias Mahattaya, who was for many years the commander of the Vanni region and at one stage, the undisputed second in command of the Tamil rebel outfit, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Subsequently, Mahattaya was arrested on 31 March 1993, on trumped-up charges as he planned to kill and overthrow Prabakaran, the leader of the LTTE.
