Controversy over Loganathan's new role

Controversy over Loganathan's new role

By Janaka Perera

Colombo, 06 April, (Asiantribune.com): In the wake of Asian Tribune editorial Advisor H.L.D. Mahindapala’s devastating exposure of corruption within the so-called civil society (Daily News March 10 and 14), members of patriotic organizations, such as the World Alliance for Peace Sri Lanka (WAPS) see the appointment of NGO activist Ketheshwaram Loganathan as Deputy Secretary General of the Government’s Peace Secretariat as a controversial one.

A WAPS member, who did not want himself identified, said that Loganathan’s role in Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) and especially his strong links with the Bergof Foundation cast serious doubts on his impartiality in the peace process.

The BF became notorious for advocating the reduction of Sri Lanka’s defense capabilities so that its strength would on par with that of the LTTE. As a result the Foundation earned the strongest condemnation of patriotic organizations and anti-LTTE media.

Controversy over Loganathan's new role

I assume this appointment was a political one.

At least govt. should scrutinize people before appointing.

At one time, there was a story that there was a LTTE informer in the President's detail for Inida.

That shows how lethargic is the people working around and basically the govt.

IN GOSL, people need to learn to do a good job when they work and n ot just doing it. Probably this is because of high job security in the govt.
