Court order against SLMC bears less repercussion than expected?

By Munza Mushtaq -- Asian Tribune

Colombo, 16 February, (Asiantribune.com): Despite the Colombo District Court yesterday issuing a enjoining order preventing the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) from handing over the nomination papers of its candidates for the forthcoming local government elections, party's Secretary General M.T. Hasan Ali said that his party members had made deposits at the Election Secretariat to contest as 'Independent groups'.

"We have also submitted three symbols to the Elections Secretariat, and probably we would be able to contest under one of them at the elections," Mr. Ali told the “Asian Tribune.”

He also noted that as the party was contesting under the United National Party at several districts he saw little problems for his party although such an order has been issued.
