[b]Colombo, 15 DEcember, (Asiantribune.com): [/b]The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has decided to appoint former Deputy Minister of Samurdhi Dallas Allahapperuma to the vacant national list MP post of the United People’s Freedom Alliance’ (UPFA) which became vacant following the death of foreign minister Lakshman Kadirgamar, who was killed by the LTTE.

The UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha has in a letter to Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake intimated his party decision on the new appointment.

Mr. Allahapperuma is scheduled to take oaths on Monday in Parliament. The other names which were reportedly proposed for this vacancy were Chandana Katthiriarachchi, Reginald Cooray and V. Anandasangaree, Leader of the Tamil United Liberation Front.
