[b]Detained three policemen's relatives visited them in Kilinochchi[/b]

[b]Colombo, 21 September, (Asiantribune.com):[/b] Parent, wiife, brothers and sister of the three policemen held in the custody by the Tamil Eelam police visited them yesterday at Kilinochchi. This meeting was arranged by the International Red Cross Society, on the permission granted by Tamil Eelam Police Magistrate.

According to reports, the three policemen attached to the National Child protection Agency (NCPA) namely Reserve Sub-Inspector (RSI) Bandujeewa Weerasinghe Bopitigoda, Police Driver (Constable) K.A.D. Sarath (9925), Police Constable Welegoda Gamage Diluksha Hemantha (973) were with their parents and loved ones on Tuesday from ten in morning till 2 PM in the afternoon.

They were arrested and detained on 10 September, by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), when they crossed into the Tiger controlled area in Arippu, near Murunkan, along with four other policemen, with the company of two Christian priests, while on an official duty following a suspect in connection with a child abuse case. Tamil Tigers released the Two Christian priests and four others from NCPA and only arrested and held these three policemen.

The three policemen were detained by the Tamil Eelam Police on an allegation that they forcefully entered into LTTE controlled area in Mannar and were produced before the Kilinochchi Magistrate belonging to the court run by the LTTE. Upon the request of the LTTE police, Kilinochchi Magistrate ordered them to be detained for further investigations.
