New Delhi, 17 February ( Notwithstanding denials, the stage appears to be set for formal separation of the alliance between DMK and AIADMK. The timing is all what matters now and it could be any day after the schedule is announced for Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

The first formal indications of strained relations between the 'natural allies' as the two sides used to claim, came today from DMK treasurer Arcot N Veerasamy. He virtually taunted Vaiko on the Amma offer. It came in the context of Kalimuthu's claim that he had spoken to Vaiko on cell phone. The claim was made by AIADK presidium chairman in the course of a speech at Thiruvannamalai in a clear indication that Amma would like to keep her betenoire in as much off balance as possible.

In a statement, Veerasamy asked Vaiko to explain the veracity of Kalimuthu claim. "And end the unnecessary confusion among the public created by Kalimuthu's defamatory speeches".
