Ethnic problem and elections

Ethnic problem and elections

S. Santhirasegara from Canada in a letter to “Asian Tribune” writes, “….responses are long winding and not to the point. Repeating “say Ahhh… when you breath in….”, “oops”, wow’ etc. are irrelevant to the serious ethnic problem, lowering the standards of journalism, and diverting readers’ attention.”

The Editor
Asian Tribune

I was following the contributions in the “Asian Tribune” about the ethnic problem by Asoka Weerasinghe, Iris de Silva, Wijesinghe and co. It has now come to the forefront with the election fever. Asoka’s responses are long winding and not to the point. Repeating “say Ahhh… when you breath in….”, “oops”, wow’ etc. are irrelevant to the serious ethnic problem, lowering the standards of journalism, and diverting readers’ attention. Asoka Weerasinghe’s lengthy essay repeating about his good conduct is also going at a tangent. If a criminal is guilty, he should plead guilty, and his past good conduct can only be cited in a plea for mitigation.
