Sunil C. Perera, - Reporting from Colombo

Colombo, 09 March, (Asiantribune.com): Visiting EU Chief Observer John Cushnahan recommends re-polling all electoral districts in the North and East that had been affected by violence and intimidation. In the last Presidential Election held on 17 November 2005. EU Observer said that he will meet all the political Party leaders to discuss about his recommendation.

Presenting his final report connected to the last Presidential election to media in Colombo on Wednesday, he said that the EU observers have fully endorsed a decision and make recommendations to re-poll Sri Lanka`s Northern province to bring justice for all voters in the area. Mr.Cushnahan said that the LTTE made influence on voters not to cast their votes .

North and East have consistently been denied the opportunity to fully participate in the democratic process. He further added that it is clear that future elections in LTTE held areas are to be held in accordance with international recognized principals for genuine democratic elections. He also stressed the importance of the presence of international observers when the election is in progress.
