Dhaka, 05 May, (Asiantribune.com): Explanation connected with the inclusion of Geoffrey York, a reporter of Canadian newspaper Globe and Mail, was flatly rejected. The Board of Investment (BOI) in Bangladesh announced that it will not assist Canadian Niko Resources in getting on-arrival visas for the company officials and representatives as the government finds Niko's reply to a show cause notice ‘unacceptable’.

'We have decided not to assist Niko in getting the on-arrival visas; the assistance the other foreign investors in Bangladesh enjoy, as Niko’s reply is not acceptable,' the BoI executive chairman, Mahmudur Rahman, also the energy and mineral resources adviser, this correspondent on Thursday.

Niko on Tuesday replied to the show cause notice, served by the BOI on April 14, asking it to reply within seven days why it had brought a Canadian reporter in the guise of a company adviser and tarnished the country’s image by publishing a report in a Canadian newspaper that termed Bangladesh ‘vindictive’.
