Sri Lankan bombs kill 43 school girls in Mullativu, says LTTE

Colombo, 14 August, (Asiantribune.com): Pro-LTTE websites claimed that Sri Lankan Kfir jets bombing Mullativu had hit a children’s home killing 43 girls and 60 other girls were injured.

But Air Force spokesman Group Capt. Ajantha Silva said the government has proof the facility was a rebel base.

LTTE officials in Kilinochchi however said: "Girls from various schools in the Mullaitivu district were staying overnight at the compound, attending a course in first-aid."

The LTTE Peace Secretariat denounced the Sri Lankan airstrike as "a horrible act of terror." 33 bodies have been taken to Puthukudiyiruppu hospital.

UN’s child agency, UNICEF, and international truce monitors have visited the scene of the carnage, said the Tamil website.
