Infant baby succumbed to LTTE fire

Colombo, 17 August, (Asiantribune.com): An infant the son of an ex-LTTE cadre, fell victim to LTTE fire on Wednesday (16) at about 9.30 p.m. at Sittandi in Mavadivembu, located in the Eravur police area, Batticaloa district.Nilushan - the baby killed by the LTTE gunmen.Nilushan - the baby killed by the LTTE gunmen.

According reports, LTTE gunmen stormed the house of the ex-LTTE cadre, and opened fire indiscriminately at him, when he was with his wife and the one and half year old son, Nilushan (1 ½).

Nilushan, the child died in the LTTE firing while his parents, Kandiah Nimalan (22) and Jegatheesan Gajanmalar (18), received serious injuries.

Both parents were rushed to the general hospital in Batticaloa for immediate medical attention.

The injured persons are undergoing treatments at the hospital.

Kandiah Nimalan had repeatedly refused the LTTE demand to rejoin the organization. According to reports, he had escaped from the LTTE twice when he was abducted.

Even earlier, he and his wife were shot by the Tigers when they were hiding in a relative’s house

The people in the area are horrified by this most inhuman act of the LTTE.
