Another EPDP member shot and killed by LTTE gunmen

Colombo, 01 November, (Asiantribune.com): Another member of the Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) has been shot and killed in Point Pedro.

The 47 year old EPDP activist Ramalingham Thavathurai of St. Ludes Road Thumpalai, Point Pedro was felled by bicycle riding two pistol wielding terrorists belonging to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

The shooting incident took place yesterday (31 October) morning at 9.00 AM, when Thavathurai was standing in front of the convenient shop which is in the front portion of his house.

According to reports, two gunmen belonging to the LTTE came in a bicycle and started shooting at Thavathurai. LTTE assassins have fled the scene immediately after shooting Thavathurai.

Point Pedro Police rushed to the scene and with the help of neighbours had taken the victim to Base Hospital at Manthikai, Point Pedro, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Thaavathurai is the father of five children.

The Point Pedro Police has commenced investigations. The post-mortem is to be held after the magisterial inquiry.
