Colombo, 10 November, (Asiantribune.com): Former Sri Lanka President, Ms. Chandrika Kumaratunga, comments on the purchase of curtains in London

We publish the following text sent by the office of the former President of Sri Lanka, Chandrika Kumaratunga with the Editor’s comment below:

Asian Tribune

Dear Sir,

It has been brought to the notice of this office that you have published on your web-site, a news item alleging that President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, former President of Sri Lanka, has purchased curtain material costing SL Rs 2.3 million, at a shop named John Lewis in Brent Cross, London.

She wishes to inform you that this is completely false and fabricated with malicious intent.

Ø She has not purchased any curtain material nor for that matter any material in London or any other part of the world for over a decade.

Ø She has not put foot at the Brent Cross shopping complex and therefore to any shop therein in the last 13 years.

Ø Your "most intelligent" supposition that if she has purchased large quantities of curtain material that you have dreamt that she has, she must own a large mansion, is also totally rejected with contempt.

Ø President Kumaratunga does not own any property in UK or in any other country, other than in Sri Lanka.

I request you to publish this statement in full, without any amendments in the Asian Tribune web-site with immediate effect.

Thank you

Yours sincerely

Sgd. Director Media

Editor’s comment:Our investigations reveal that Ms. Chandrika Kumaratunga did visit the shopping complex and purchased the curtains. We also know that there are no look-alikes her in London.
