By a correspondent in New Delhi

New Delhi, 16 February ( Dr. Subramanian Swamy, who heads his own Janata Party and is known as one –man demolition army, has asked the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to dismiss Karunanidhi government, claiming that the DMK regime in Tamil Nadu has made the state a safe haven for LTTE cadres.

In a statement, reacting to the huge haul of weapons off Tamil Nadu coast over the past couple of days, Swamy, a minister in the short-lived Chandrasekhar government (1991) alleged that the DMK and its ally PMK as also rabidly pro-Tiger party of MDMK have facilitated the LTTE extend its outreach. The arms haul made by India's coast guard off Rameswaram included detonator, suicide belts, satellite phone and medicines. Five Sri Lankan Tamilians were also arrested.

Subramanian Swamy said the arms haul should act as an eye opener. "The LTTE is spreading its wings in Tamil Nadu,, converting the state into a terrorist hub again", he said and demanded the dismissal of Karunanidhi government. He recalled that the Chandrasekhar government in which he was law and commerce minister had dismissed the DMK ministry in 1991 to save the state from LTTE.

"'I demand Dr APJ Abdul Kalam impose President's Rule in Tamil Nadu since parties like DMK, PMK and MDMK were aiding and abetting the LTTE to have a free run in the state", Swamy said in a statement circulated through news agencies.
