Colombo, 27 June, (Asiantribune.com): Police officers collected the body parts of the of the motorbike-riding suspected LTTE suicide bomber who rammed his motorcycle yesterday morning on to the car of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General Parami Kulathunge’s killing him and two other Army personnel instantaneously.

Gangodawila Magistrate, Government Analysts, Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department, Senior Police Officers and a high-level investigating team visited the scene of the suicidal blast within a short while and concluded preliminary investigations after recovering several severed human parts, believed to be of the suicide bomber. Those parts were later taken to Police morgue for identification and further investigations.
The vehicle of Major General Kulatunge and his escort double-cab were completely destroyed in the blast killing two more Army personnel and injuring an Army sergeant.
One civilian so far unidentified has also died in the explosion. Eight others wounded in the explosion have been admitted to Colombo, Kalubowila and Sri Jayawardenapura hospitals for immediate treatment. At least five vehicles were completely or partly damaged in the explosion. Sergeant A. R. Gomes and Lance Corporal Buddhika Maduranga, both from the Gemunu Watch died on the spot in the explosion that also injured Sergeant W. K. G. U. Kumara of the Gemunu Watch.
LTTE suicide bomber after reaching closer has rammed his motorbike into Lt. General Kulathunge’s Car, as the driver was proceeding ahead, close to Pannipitiya Railway station area during the morning rush hour. The huge explosion caused panic and sent shock waves among civilians and others in the area.
Special Police teams from Maharagama Police and Military Police teams, assisted by other investigators were conducting on the spot.
