Defence Ministry news website described “LTTE terrorists carried out another cowardly attack at the civilians, by targeting a civilian bus.”

Around 50 persons were traveling in the ill fated bus, according to a police source. All those 15 killed in the claymore mine blast are Sinhlaese civilians who were traveling from Anuradhapura to Janakapura.

Out of the 15 persons killed, three of them are women, said Dr. Sajit Bandara of the Kebitigollawe hospital.

According to reports, senior Army and police officials are rushing to the scene of the incident.

Last year, in June, 64 passengers were killed in a similar Claymore explosion in the area.
