India –Pak desert express delayed by a week

By M Rama Rao - Reporting from New Delhi for Asian Tribune

New Delhi, 26 January, (Asiantribune.com): The India-Pak desert express named after the Thar is unlikely to chug along the Munnabao- Khokhrapar route till the second week of February. Earlier it was slated to start from Jodhpur and go upto Mirphurkas on Feb 1. Reason: the two countries are yet to finalise modalities of the operations. In fact, a visit of Indian railway team to Pakistan to firm up the schedule is yet to take place.

Chairman of Railway Board J P Batra asked Pakistan to fix a date for the visit of Indian delegation to finalise all the modalities.

"The train is unlikely to run from February one. I presume that it will take at least 15 days more to finalise everything between the two countries," Batra told reporters here.
