Indian Left openly targets American ambassador

Indian Left openly targets American ambassador

By M Rama Rao - Reporting for Asian Tribune from New Delhi

New Delhi, 11 February (Asiantribune.com ): Indian Left has toughened its stand vis-à-vis the American envoy here in New Delhi. It wants Washington to recall David Mulford. The demand is more vociferous from the Marxists. Reason: The envoy has written a letter directly to chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya, some thing unusual for a diplomat whatever be the provocation.

Protocol demands that the envoys should route their correspondence with any authority in India through the foreign office. In fact, a foreign office representative accompanies the diplomats whenever they call on chief ministers or federal ministers.

Thundered the Marxist party's supremo Prakash Karat, "The US ambassador does not seem to understand how to behave as an ambassador in this country. An ambassador has to behave according to certain norms".
