New Delhi, 28 December, (Asiantribune.com): India's main opposition the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is celebrating its silver jubilee with a three day convention in Mumbai, is making news for things other than politics.

The party's general secretary in charge of organization Sanjay Joshi resigned today after a VCD surfaced showing him reportedly in a compromising position with a woman. Joshi, who is respected for his personal integrity, as also the party bosses termed the VCD as a smear campaign.

The VCD is said to be in circulation for a couple of months but it was the first time it became a talking point today.

Joshi who is on loan to the BJP from the parent body, RSS has filed a complaint with the police in Bhopal, where the VCD and an audio cassette surfaced. The accused was not named.

BJP vice president, M Venkaiah Naidu, confirmed the resignation of Joshi. "This is true that Sanjay Joshi came to Mumbai on Monday and he met the party president Lal K Advani and told him that he would resign from the post till an internal probe is conducted into the manner in which a slander campaign against him has been launched by certain vested interests"
