Jayalalithaa's assets disclosure a fodder to DMK

New Delhi, 16April ( A confident looking Jayalalithaa Jayaram, the AIADMK supremo, has brushed aside the opinion polls which speak of a neck to neck race between her party and the DMK for the honors in the assembly election. This is more than clear from her body language as she filed her nomination from the Andipatti and grandly declared that her assets are worth Rs. 25 crore.

Andipatti is Jaya turf. It was once represented by her mentor MGR. She has no battle to win here. Elsewhere it is a different story, though she is unwilling to acknowledge it. This electoral arrogance as some commentators like to term may have something to do with the results of the opinion poll conducted by CNN-IBN and The Hindu. Despite the close call, the pollsters said Jaya wins hands down in the race with M Karunanidhi on a host of factors that range from better governance, concern for the poor, development of the state and controlling corruption. On all these parameters, DMK chief is said to lag behind his rival, according to the pollsters, whose analysis is given in the table below.
