[b]LTTE to hold Tamil Resurgence conference in Jaffna while ‘Pongu Tamil Ganesh’ is still in custody.[/b]

[b]Colombo. 20 September ([/b] Arrangements are underway to hold the Tamil National Resurgence Jaffna district level conference on 30 September in Jaffna, while “Pongu Tamil Ganesh” a former leader of the Jaffna campus student organization, the disgraced professor K. T. Ganeshalingam who was alleged of raping more than 40 times a 13 year old servant girl and kept in custody and denied of bail by the Jaffna Magistrate Srinithi Nandasegaram when the case came up for trial on September 6, 2005.

It is also alleged that the District Child Protection Committee of Jaffna had investigated the child servant molestation allegation while the girl was admitted to hospital after she attempted to commit suicide a few weeks ago.

The alleged perpetrator, a professor in political science at the University of Jaffna and also the political advisor to the LTTE cadres in Jaffna was subsequently arrested by police.

Later LTTE complained that the disgraced professor Ganeshalingham who was earlier the founder of the ‘Pongu Tamil’ concept, that he was politically victimized and protested to the District Child Protection Committee.

In the meantime, the Thenmaradchi civilian based organization (CBO) in a statement released to call the people of the region to gather in support for the Pongu Tamil event on 30th of this month.

The CBO in its statement underlined that the time was ripe for us to reach our goal. The statement further said “We can get there only by asking the international community to recognize our defacto-government functioning in our homeland. It is through this that we can repay the martyrs and civilians who dedicated their lives for this goal”.
