[b]LTTE men escaped with the woman cadre patient after killing a police constable.[/b]

[b]Colombo, 12 December, (Asiantribune.com):[/b] Four LTTE armed men stormed the Vavuniya hospital, shot and killed police constable Mahesh Ranasinghe (PC 38716) inside the hospital premises, entered the hospital ward No: 1 through the back door, ordered the other policemen who were on guard duty to leave, carried the woman patient who was undergoing treatment and fled by scaling the hospital wall.

The incident took place yesterday around 3 PM in the afternoon and the armed police constable Ranasinghe was shot and killed on the spot at the entrance to the ward while four other unarmed policemen who were guarding the patient inside the ward and were threatened to leave.

The four armed Tiger cadres took away the patient, also a Tiger woman cadre Gunaratnam Puvaneswari, who took cyanide when Sri Lanka Navy arrested her with four others on board a boat in Mannar Sea on 06 December.

Earlier, a LTTE boat with five suspected Tamil Tigers, three males and two females, were arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy on Tuesday 06 December at about 3.15 p.m.
