LTTE's sudden concern for children

LTTE's sudden concern for children

By Janaka Perera

They say that all the people can be fooled for some time and some people all the time but not all the people all the time. But Prabhakaran's puppets have not given up trying to fool some people all the time. They will do it as long as dubious NGOs and the LTTE proxy, Tamil National Alliance, continue to color wash the Wanni Tigers.

Even before the first round of CFA (Cease Fire Agreement) talks concluded at Geneva, LTTE Political Head S.P. Tamilselvan, according to the February 24 Daily Mirror, said that people who were truly concerned about child welfare must refrain from accusing the Wanni Tigers of child recruitment and instead turn their attention to the serious child abuse and child slavery going on a large scale in the South. Tamilselvan seems to have forgotten some very important facts that expose his hypocrisy on this issue.

The child abuse culprits in the South are not the Sri Lankan State but individuals or families or employers. But in the North and East it is the LTTE-run rogue state that stands accused of recruiting child soldiers. The accusers are not only the Sri Lankan Government but also the UN, UNICEF and Amnesty International among others.
