Colombo, 05 September, ( Reports emerging from Colombo indicates that Mahinda Rajapakse, Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister and the Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has agreed to the 12 conditions, which are of far reaching political implications, put forward by the Janatha Vimukthi Perumuna for their support in the forthcoming presidential elections.

This was publicly revealed at a press conference held in Colombo today by Somawansha Amarasinghe, Leader of the JVP, who provided details of the conditional support they agreed with Mahinda Rajapakse in a bid to endorse his Presidential candidacy.

The press conference was also attended by JVP’s General Secretary Tilvin Silva, Propaganda Secretary Wimal Weerawansa, Nandana Gunatilleke MP and Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the JVP Vijithe Herath.

One of those condition that was agreed by Mahinda Rajapakse was not to talk with Tamil Tigers based on Interim Self Governing Authority (ISGA) proposals.

He has also agreed to renounce the Post Tsunami Operational and Maintenance Structure (P-TOMS), the offering made by the present President to the Tigers, which ruined the present President Chandrika Kumaratunga and the Government.

In the meantime, it is learnt that President Chandrika Kumaratunga has commended the agreement reached between the SLFP’s Presidential candidate Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse and the JVP.
