Colombo, 11 January, ( Sri Lanka's predominant Muslim party yesterday slammed the Government for its failure to take concrete steps to bring an end to the escalating tensions in the country.

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Secretary General M. T. Hasan Ali pointed out that while people were being murdered the Government was fighting over the venue to hold peace talks.

"It is nonsense for them to fight over a venue, whether it is in Oslo or anywhere else, they should immediately embark on peace talks as soon as possible. Even the International Community has made a statement to the effect that the two parties must start talks and not make the venue as an issue," he noted.
