<b>Jayalalitha! Are you helping Chandrika?</b>
From Guna Kajananth in Batticaloa July 18: A massive demonstration was held here today to demonstrate the support of Sri Lankan Tamils to the jailed Tamil leader Vaiko – V.Gopalasamy, who was jailed for addressing in a public rally, in support of the LTTE and its struggle in Sri Lanka.
“Our demonstration is not only an expression of support to Marumalarchi Diravida Munnetra Kalazham (MDMK) leader Vaiko, but also an articulation of our appreciation to all Tamils in Tamil Nadu, who support our just struggle, to live with dignity enjoying our rights,” said TULF Senior Vice President Joseph Pararajasingham.
The demonstration was organized by Tamil National Alliance (TNA), a grouping of four Tamil parties, Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF), All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC), Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) and Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF).
The two- kilometer long procession, raised slogans appealing to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha not to help the forces that tries to defeat the current peace process, the outcome of the 19-year armed struggle led by the LTTE leader Velupillai Pirabaharan.
Speakers at the public meeting, that followed the procession, appealed to the people of Tamil Nadu, not to weaken the LTTE, or its struggle, and such damaging act would strengthen Sinhala chauvinism, that is trying its utmost to resume the war and crush the Tamils.
“If you weaken the LTTE suffering of the Tamil people will worsen,” speakers said.
“Jayalalitha! Are you helping Chandrika?” was the main slogan shouted by the precisionists.
According to the perception of the Tamils in Sri Lanka -President Chandrika Kumaratunga is trying to torpedo the peace process.
