LTTE police: walk-in interviews

The Sunday Times

The LTTE in a bid to expand its police force has called for applications to recruit cadres.

In an advertisement in Wednesday's Uthayan newspaper published in Jaffna, the LTTE invited applications to fill vacancies in the Tamil Eelam police department.

Applications have been called for sub inspectors, constables and clerical staff. Interested candidates have been asked to walk into the LTTE office in Pallai with the relevant certificates.

The EPDP reacting to the advertisment said the government's inaction to a newspaper advertisement recently where the LTTE announced its rates for illegal collection of duty on goods had apparently encouraged the Tigers to put out this advertisement for recruitment to an illegal police force.

The EPDP asked whether similar advertisements for recruitment to the Tamil Eelam army, navy and air force would appear later.
