Parents and Old Boys Recover School Furniture from Teacher’s House - True Life Story
From our Colombo correspondent This is also a story about a government school in Mawathagama, a city in central Sri Lanka.
The school principal when he returned from leave found the heap of costly furniture including two long science lab tables, he had kept separate to do repairs missing.
He was told that, they were sold by the deputy principal to a lady teacher as condemned furniture at the cost of firewood.
Angry principal summoned a joint meeting of the Parents and Teachers Association and Old Boys Association and placed the matter before them.
“I don’t want to call the police. That will bring disgrace to the school. You deal with it,” he told the meeting.
A group of parents and old boys raided the home of the teacher and recovered the entire lot. They have told the deputy principal and the teacher to seek transfer to some other school.
