<b>Prisoners held by LTTE in detention camps</b>

Around 800 civilians are reportedly being held prisoner by the LTTE in the Mullaitivu district alone. Informed sources told the Daily Mirror last night that around 600 Tamil civilians alone were being held prisoners in one of the detention camps.
In several other detention camps prisoners numbering between 50 and100 are being held adding up to nearly 200. In all many of the prisoners are believd to be Sinhalese including army personnel. Informed sources said President Chandrika Kumaratunga, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission had been informed of this.
Some of the prisoners have been in these detention camps for nearly 10 years. We have also discovered that some of the prisoners are being chained".they explained.
