America Covers Up Her Crimes And Sits On Judgement Against Sri Lanka

A Comment by L. Jayasooriya

According to a news report by Daya Gamage in Asian Tribune (2009-10-03) under the title “Rape of Iraqi women by US forces” four US soldiers raped a 14 year old girl in March 2006 and murdered her and her family including a 5 year old child.

They have been found guilty of this heinous crime on May 07, 2009 by a US Court and no sentence has yet been delivered.

It will be interesting to know what the sentence will be or whether there will be any sentence at all because of the time that has elapsed since conviction. This will have to be carefully followed up to know whether American Courts are functioning independent of American policy towards the world that they exploit.

In the case of Sgt. Kelly who took delight at blowing the brains out of children at My Lai he was never charged by America. Instead he was a hero in his native town where he was offered free drinks at his pub.

According to the above news report all the sadistic crimes involving the torture and rape of POW’s at the notorious Abu Ghraib prison, the CIA, Military Intelligence and private government contractors were involved.

There have been over 2000 photographs of the most sickening acts of crimes against humanity but according to the report President Obama in May this year has said and I quote "The most direct consequence of releasing them, I believe, would be to inflame anti-American public opinion and to put our troops in greater danger."

These crimes have already gone round the world and the whole of Asia, Africa, South America and even some countries in the EU have the same feelings towards America. In today’s instant communications news goes everywhere and websites even transmit videos of events.

The list of American crimes against humanity is endless but let me include just one to illustrate the true nature of America. In the case of Sgt. Kelly who took delight at blowing the brains out of children at My Lai he was never charged by America. Instead he was a hero in his native town where he was offered free drinks at his pub.

If all these are true it will be absolutely foolish to argue that America has no right to charge Sri Lanka with human rights violations. Instead we should introduce a resolution at the Human Rights Council in Geneva condemning America in the language they understand best for all the crimes America has committed around the world and at the same time begin a dialogue about forming an alliance of Asian nations with China as our protector.
