Bhim_Rawal.jpgThe death toll caused due to landslides and floods triggered by incessant rainfall reached to 54 on Thursday, according officials at Home Ministry.

The death toll reached this high as the flash floods and landslides continue wreck havoc in various districts in far western Nepal for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday.

At least 20 more people were killed on Tuesday and Wednesday alone. Officials on Monday had put the death toll to 34.

Officials said dozens of villages are affected due to landslides and flash floods. Thousands of hectares of farmland where fields were being readied for harvest have also been destroyed by the flood.

Home Minister Bhim Rawal said the cabinet has allocated Rs 150 million for people affected by floods and landslides.

Remote Dadeldhura, Dang, Kanchanpur and Achchham districts are among the worst affected districts.

Officials said the army, police and civil volunteers have been mobilized to distribute relief supplies and rescue stranded people.

However, rescue workers are facing difficulties due to swollen rivers and poor road conditions in the areas.
