Madras varsity to offer free education for Sri Lankan refugees

From S Murari, Chennai
Chennai, 22 November, (Asiantribune.com):

The Madras University has decided to offer free of cost graduate and post-graduate courses to children of Sri Lankan refugees living in camps across the State.

Stating this at a press conference here on Saturday, Vice-Chancellor G Thiruvasagam said the aim was to encourage several students eligible to pursue collegiate education, but scattered across different camps through the distance mode from where they stay.

From the next academic year, affiliated colleges would also reserve a few seats for such students to pursue higher education free of cost, he added.
